Kinetix Academy CIC
In October 2022 we established a new not-for-profit organisation under the name of the Kinetix Academy CIC. This new organisation was set up specifically to run community, outreach, and intervention projects supporting those in need around Essex.
Our aim is to offer a safe, positive, and welcoming environment with accessible, free to attend activities for local young people.
Using over a decade of experience in working with vulnerable young people through partnership with schools, Pupil Referral Units, and other support networks, our coaching team are already well-equipped to offer support and mentorship alongside the physical activities on offer at the Kinetix Academy. Kinetix Academy CIC have also developed a network of delivery partners through working closely with the Active Essex Foundation, Essex Youth Service, and Active Essex and working on such positive projects as the Holiday Activities Food programme where we offer free of charge activities, enrichment, and a hot healthy lunch in the school holidays to children who receive free school meals.
Kinetix Academy CIC was formed by Brad Wendes alongside two other independent directors who are industry experts with no involvement in the organisation or running of Team Kinetix Ltd.
Everyone involved in this new organisation is passionate about, and committed to providing a meaningful community service for young people in Essex.
At the start of 2023 we ran a 12 week project in partnership with Street Games funded by the Ministry of Justice. During this project we engaged with a large number of young people from around Essex who were at risk of becoming involved in violence or crime. During this project we had a large significant impact on the young people involved. Outcomes included better attendance at school, improved attitude and behaviour at school. We saw immediately the power of our provision, how well our coaches engage with young people, and how effective Parkour & Acrobatics can be as non-competitive diversionary activities.
Following on from the MOJ Project Kinetix Academy CIC was able to continue provision for a majority of our engagement projects through our partnership with the Active Essex Foundation. We also began running three sessions per week in North Essex in partnership with the Essex Youth Service as well as the schools and organisations we had existing relationships with. These sessions have been free to attend and include a hot nutritious dinner for all participants. For this project we offered outdoor Parkour classes for young people of secondary age, making use of outdoor public space around the City of Colchester. Outcomes from this project continued to be positive, with young people learning how to stay active and how make good use of public outdoor spaces. From this project we gave a selection of young people opportunities to volunteer, gain qualifications, and support them in finding employment.
Kinetix Academy continue to run ongoing intervention projects for a range of cohorts around Essex including; women and girls sports sessions, physical activities & mentorship for young people who have been excluded from school, and support for anxious non-attendees in schools.
Our 2023 Women & Girls project was Highly Commended at the Active Essex Sports Awards 2023.
We are incredibly proud of the impact the Kinetix Academy CIC is having on young people around Essex, we have learned a lot in the past year, and we look forward to continuing our outreach and support projects into the future.
Thank you to our partners, funders, and all those who have supported these projects.
