This weeks blog took a slightly unexpected political turn.
The Team Kinetix freerunners headed to the new Harrow Lodge Parkour park, built by leading outdoor park construction company ‘Natural Sports‘
While heading to the park it occurred to us that Romford (London Borough of Havering) now has two purpose-built, free-to-use, Parkour parks.
Compare this to Chelmsford, which is now a city and is historically the County Town of Essex, where we can evidence over 1000 individual local participants in Parkour / Freerunning in 2016 alone. Chelmsford has no Parkour park and Chelmsford City Council have previously refused meetings to discuss the possibility of a Chelmsford Parkour park. There was even a petition in 2015 that gained over 300 signatures requesting a Chelmsford Parkour park.
So, on behalf of the Essex Parkour community, Team Kinetix have begun making some waves locally to see if we can prompt the discussion again in light of Parkour being recognised as a sport.
